The H.A.C.K. Horse Sanctuary reg. ch. 1025157
Working in the Community
H.A.C.K. welcomes the community by offering many different activities at the sanctuary for both abled, disabled, and special needs adults and children alike, with clubs, , groups and those suffering mental health issues who benefit from animal interaction.
More recently we have had enquiries from schools to set up sessions for pupils with additional needs and/or social/mental problems. Two schools have taken part in the 2/3 hour sessions once a week over a six period (each term) with a maximum of 6 children and we are told it has made a huge difference to their pupils outlook, confidence, behaviour and lives who have benefited from these sessions. We have been requested to continue with this programme.
This is a statement from Ysgol Bryn Alyn who have taken part in the term sessions
“Today’s weather was fabulous for our latest group to visit The H.A.C.K horse sanctuary and continue to learn about looking after the horses, donkeys, goats, and pigs who call this beautiful corner of Wales their home.
This opportunity that Gwersyllt Community Council have so kindly funded, is a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to get closer to nature, such a positive thing for well-being. ‘Biophilia’ to use the correct term, is the idea that humans possess an innate tendency to seek connections with nature and other forms of life. At The H.A.C.K staff are witnessing the power of this connection and our Youth Workers, Tracey, and Mandy, are amazed at how well our pupils are working with the animals. It is lovely to witness and hear the pupils talking about this beautiful spot, the animals, and the importance of caring for our environment and all that is in it!”
The sessions start from April - October - 3 x 6 week sessions one day per week per school. Shorter sessions are available.
Visitors and groups
We have many various groups and clubs who like to come along and interact with the animals, all have a wonderful time and enjoy the experience.
It was lovely to welcome the children from The Spinney Bell Meadow to the yard once again.
Please contact us if you would like to arrange a group visit… this week we have Bradley playgroup and Rhosnesni Beavers.. it’s going to be another busy week for the volunteers
Company team building - Engineers from Sky helped build a new fence for the goat enclosures and paint all fencing including the menage.
